Between Tracks: The Salford Restoration Office Jun-Jul 2009

The Salford Restoration Office is a curatorial practice that develops projects with cultural institutions in Manchester, addressing questions of artistic context and policy, and generating discussion surrounding the conditions art institutions and artists in the city find themselves operating within.

Between Tracks was an exhibition of new work by nine British and Swiss artists, taking place at The International 3 and The Salford Restoration Office.

Exhibiting artists were: Andrea Corciulo, Dave Griffiths, Candice Jacobs, Aurelio Kopainig, Alexandra Maurer, Haroon Mirza, Aleksandra Signer and David Sherry, with performances by David Sherry and Andrea Vogel.

Developed in collaboration with the St.Gallen based artist group, NEXTEX, Between Tracks aimed to encourage discussions between artists who are based outside their respective country’s primary art centres. In May this year, twelve Manchester based artists exhibited alongside six Swiss artists in St.Gallen’s disused Badhaus, a remarkable nineteenth century building whose original use as temporary lodgings for railway labourers has long since lapsed.
