Chiara Banchini and the European Union Baroque Orchestra, Edinburgh Festival Aug 2009

Usher Hall, Edinburgh, 25 August

Chiara Banchini, one of baroque music’s most admired interpreters, directed the extraordinary European Union Baroque Orchestra from the violin. The Orchestra performed with period instruments and tripled its usual size for this concert, boasting 60 players.
The programme consisted of music by the Baroque contemporaries Corelli, Muffat, Geminiani and Handel who met in Rome in the late 1600s and early 1700s.

“The swelling effect of the massed strings was quite thrilling”
The Herald****

“Displaying unanimous movement and style, like some Suzuki violin session transported back to Baroque Rome”
The Scotsman*****

….it is only with support of friends like you that we are able to offer the range and quality of artists that have performed on our stages this summer and assist us in making the Festival, as The Scotsman concludes “arguably the most important arts event in the world”……..
Thank you letter to the SCFB on behalf of the Festival Director Jonathan Mills
