Swiss Ambassador's Award Concert Sep 2009
The 2009 Swiss Ambassador's Award Concert Tour with the prize winning Gémeaux Quartett commenced at Wigmore Hall, London and continued to Manchester, Edinburgh and Cardiff. The Gémeaux Quartett was founded at the Basel Academy of Music in 2003 by four young musicians who were drawn together by their passion for string quartets. They are Anne Schoenholtz (violin), Manuel Oswald (violin), Sylvia Zucker (viola) and Uli Witteler (violoncello). Since then the quartet has won many awards at various chamber music competitions, most notably the City of Lucerne’s Mozart prize, 1st prize at the Basler Orchestergesellschaft Competition in 2006, 1st prize at the Migros Cultural Society’s 2007 chamber music competition and its most recent success, 3rd prize and the audience prize at the 57th ARD music competition 2008. As a result, the quartet has attracted much positive attention both nationally and internationally.
